Clubs
Extracurricular activities are considered to be a very important part of the school's program. In order to be eligible for participation, students must maintain passing grades and demonstrate appropriate behavior. Students are encouraged to participate in the following activities:
Academic Club:
The Academic Club is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who enjoy academic challenges. The club will meet monthly.  Contact Mr. Krupp (Ext. 4549) or Ms. Riordan (Ext. 4553) for more information.

Band:
Students receive small group lessons once per week during the school day. The schedule rotates so they are not always missing the same class. In addition, large ensemble practices are held once per week before school (7:30 -8:15 AM). All of this hard work is showcased in a variety of performances throughout the year. Basketball Skills and Drills Academy:
This "academy" is open to those sixth, seventh, and eighth grade boys and girls who love playing basketball and missed the cut to play on our school teams. The skills and drills shall focus on dribbling, shooting, passing, offense, and defense. Contact Mr. Krupp (Ext. 4549) for more information.

Chess Club:
Play chess and learn strategy from top ranked chess instructor, Mr. Jim Mullanaphy.  Session II will be held on Monday evenings (6:30 - 7:30 PM) from May 5th to June16th in the Media Center.  There will be no chess club on May 26th. Chorus:
The school chorus is an activity open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who wish to audition. The chorus practices one morning a week before school to prepare music for a variety of concert performances throughout the school year, culminating with the graduation ceremony. Debate Team:

Drama Club:
The DDE Drama Club is open to all students interested in getting involved with the performing arts. Our season typically runs December - March, culminating with a full scale musical theater production. Whether you want to perform or help out backstage, we invite everyone to come give it a try! Gardening Club:
This club is open to all students. Members meet after school once a week in the fall and the spring to design and maintain the school courtyard and garden. Members have worked to create a beautiful space in the center of our school complete with a pond and a wonderful display of flowering perennials. Time is spent gardening, listening to music, and socializing. Students are welcome to attend as they like throughout the year, and new members are welcome at any time. Intramural Floor Hockey:
This sport is open to boys and girls in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. Medical Forms are due in no later than the scheduled due date for Fall Sports "over the summer". Additionally, please see Mr. Krupp (Ext. 4549) to obtain a green coaching form, pink concussion form, and more information. We meet "after school" and game play ends at 4:15 P.M.

Newspaper:
Membership is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who write, edit and illustrate articles. Some of the columns that appear in the "Eisenhower Express" are news items, interviews, short stories, poetry, movie and TV reviews, sports, puzzles, and horoscopes. The club meets regularly throughout the year, publishing a paper four times a year. Contact Mrs. Flickinger (Ext. 4568) for more information.

Origami: 
The Origami Club is open to all students and will meet after school on Wednesdays.  See the Origami Club website for exact dates, times and projects.  We will be folding a special type of origami called modular origami which allows you to construct amazing structures from simple pieces.

Peer Leadership:
This group meets one morning each week and consists of 8th grade students who provide a peer-to-peer substance abuse education program. Membership is by an application process conducted in June for the following school year. Members learn information about substance abuse and train in various group-building activities and communication skills before planning their outreach programs. STOP Club:
STOP Club (Service Toward Other People): This service club is open to all grade levels. Students organize a variety of projects to help people locally and globally. Club members have organized Halloween costume collections, a small change collection for Tsunami Relief, baked holiday cookies for local families, sewn quilts for newborn babies with Project Linus, and hosted a Hunger Banquet for the entire sixth grade. Student Government:
The Student Government acts to promote the general welfare of the school. Students who are entering eighth grade have the opportunity to run for an executive board position.  Students in grades six, seventh, and eighth have an opportunity to petition the executive board to become a homeroom representative.  The Student Government sponsors various community service projects and promotes school spirit through various activities.  Contact Mr. Krupp (Ext. 4549) or Mrs. Erndl (Ext. 4512) for more information.
